“All I ever wanted was to reach out and touch another human being not just with my hands but with my heart.”

First of all, lets talk about this cover and how gorgeous it is. The eye is beautiful and the continuation of this theme throughout the series with Unravel Me, Destroy Me, and Ignite Me, just makes you want to display them all over your book shelves.

Mafi's writing is just as beautiful as this cover. She has a way with words that is like no other. I felt every word reach into my heart and take a punch. They flow through my veins so smoothly. It was a new and refreshing way of writing. The cross outs to show what Juliette's mind was really thinking versus what she knew was right for others to hear was fascinating to me and was pulled off so well. There were some lines where I just stopped and reread them because they were written impeccably. Even in this dark dystopian world, she still made it so lovable and poetic.

The characters are all written with so much dept. There are so many shades of grey yet to unfold. Like most popular dystopians now a days, it follows a female lead who has no idea who she is and how powerful she can be. Juliette's touch is deadly, literally....like people die when they touch her. She has to be quarantined and shut off from the rest of the world in this dark prison, till she is released...under a few circumstances. Using her power for evil.

Adam is the perfect boy. There is no other way to describe it. The way Adam cared for Juliette and James and will do anything to protect them. The moments where Adam secretly watches out for Juliette when she is with Warner warm my heart.

Warner reminds me of Clancy from The Darkest Minds. The way Warner was obsessed with Juliette was the same way Clancy was obsessed with Ruby. They both just wanted to prove to these girls that they are just like them. They were both so infatuated with these girls who had no idea what they were capable of yet. I find him interesting and think he will come into play in a huge way in the upcoming books.

The end of this book did give me closure, but yet still left me with a cliff hanger and wanting more. I have already started Unravel Me and Ignite Me is being shipped. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars because it was a new spin of the dystopian genre.

Let me know what you think!

  1. This is one of my favortie trilogy. It has nice blend action, romance, and comdy, which is perfect. And the development of every character in the trilogy is wonderfully showed by the author. I extremely like Juliette's emotional and physical growth from the first to the third book. She became a whole new person who is strong, mature and independent.
