Years in the making, Sarah J. Maas’s #1 New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series draws to an epic, unforgettable conclusion. Aelin Galathynius’s journey from slave to king’s assassin to the queen of a once-great kingdom reaches its heart-rending finale as war erupts across her world. . .

Aelin has risked everything to save her people―but at a tremendous cost. Locked within an iron coffin by the Queen of the Fae, Aelin must draw upon her fiery will as she endures months of torture. Aware that yielding to Maeve will doom those she loves keeps her from breaking, though her resolve begins to unravel with each passing day…

With Aelin captured, Aedion and Lysandra remain the last line of defense to protect Terrasen from utter destruction. Yet they soon realize that the many allies they’ve gathered to battle Erawan’s hordes might not be enough to save them. Scattered across the continent and racing against time, Chaol, Manon, and Dorian are forced to forge their own paths to meet their fates. Hanging in the balance is any hope of salvation―and a better world.

And across the sea, his companions unwavering beside him, Rowan hunts to find his captured wife and queen―before she is lost to him forever.

As the threads of fate weave together at last, all must fight, if they are to have a chance at a future. Some bonds will grow even deeper, while others will be severed forever in the explosive final chapter of the Throne of Glass series.

If you have not read this series yet...no offense but what are you doing with your life. The Throne of Glass series might be the best thing that has happened to me since The Mortal Instruments Series. Sarah J. Maas has created such an amazing and extensive world that I just can not help but get lost in. If you love high fantasy, trust me you will love this series. If you have not read this series you can check out my review of Throne of Glass to see why you should read these books. If you could not tell already I love this series and everything I have read thus far. More and more exciting things keep happening and Sarah J. Maas pulls me in further and further into these books.

I cannot believe this series is over. I cried and cried towards the end of the book and honestly books do not make me cry often. I started reading these books when I was a sophomore in high school and i have now finished it as a junior in college and I have seen these books grow and develop with me. I put off reading this book for a while because I did not want it to be over. Seven books later and here we are. I could not be happier with the way this book ended. Sarah J. Maas developed this world so beautifully and I saw her writing grow with her characters. I have fallen in love with all her characters (even Chaol) and guys I just DONT WANT IT TO BE OVERRRRR :( I give this book 5 million stars out of 5! Everything I could dream of in the end of a series.

If you have not read Kingdom of Ash please do not read any further! There are spoilers below!

This was my first time reading an audiobook and while I did enjoy how easy it was to just put in my headphones and listen to a book while doing other things (like wrapping a million and a half presents) the only thing that bothered me was the way she spoke as the male characters. And I get it is difficult for a woman to sound like a man at all, but these men are fae warriors and that was not really coming off to me. Also her infliction in her voice would not have been how I read some of those lines so in a way it changed the story for me. But I loved having the different voices for the females. I knew who was talking before the book even said who was saying what. But I will continue to use audiobook in the future.
When I think about these characters from when we first met them to the last page when Aelin was sending them all off, I could not believe how much I grew to love and adore every single one of Aelin's allies. When Aelin was saying goodbye to Chaol and Dorian I got a flashback to when I was reading the first book and it was just the three of them, knowing nothing of what the world had in store for them. Maybe the hardest I ever cried.

The other time I cried like a little bitch was when Aelin was fighting to get that god damn iron mask off her face and once she did she made Rowan go back for Fenrys. And then Aelin gave Fenrys the blood oath to save his life after he saved hers. The way it was written and the reaction of everyone else around them was beautiful and tore at my cold black heart.

Also the sex scenes in this book were so much better. I am glad we got Aelin and Rowan on the ship an not that weird shit on the beach where the sand around them turned to glass. Ugh I hope we get a little novella so we can see their future together and their little kids running around. Like imagine Rowan with kids... OMG I WOULD DIE! I found some of the most beautiful lines from this book to be about the love that Aelin, Rowan, Lysandra, Aedion, Elide and Lorcan had for each other. I was just highlighting left and right those sweet little moment. Lorcan's cold dark heart warming for Elide and how he was stripping his clothes because she was on her period...UGH MY HEART! He was like The Grinch when his heart grew three times larger. And when he went "ask me to marry you" I about fell on the floor from feels. Then Lysandra and Aedion trying to resist each other but were getting steamy in the hallways. I was like girl me too I say men are trash constantly but I can't help myself.

ALSO IM IN LOVE WITH FENRYS! His little comments towards every situation had me laughing. That he had light in his eyes even though the entire continent was at war. ALSO WHEN HE STUCK THAT SWORD THROUGH MAEVE'S DUMB STUPID VALG BODY I WAS SCREAMING! YES! That's my baby right there!

ALSO CAN WE TALK ABOUT MANON'S CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! To see her lose the rest of the thirteen was heartbreaking and i have never felt for her more in that moment. How she still stayed strong and fought beside Aelin for a better world was so inspiring. What a bad ass witch bitch. And Yrene the healer taking Erawan down like a boss. Ripping him apart from the inside. The women in these books are incredibly strong and powerful and truly are inspiring. I was beaming with pride when Aelin took the hands of all the women and strode through her city.

UGH GUYS I JUST DONT WANT IT TO BE OVER I NOW HAVE POST BOOK DEPRESSION! I MIGHT JUST READ IT ALL ALL OVER AGAIN! I ALREADY MISS ROWAN!

Let me know what you guys thought below! Scream, cry and vent into the comments below.

Lee Chand

  4. I love how you mention the part when Aelin tries to get the helmet off. I completely forget about it in my review but that scene felt to me like one of the most heart wrenching scenes in the book.
What are you thinking about reading next?

    2. I feel so proud to be part of the Shadowhunter Fandom because you need to have read all the ten books beforehand to know what's going on in A Queen Of Air And Darkness. I'm pretty sure that book is going to blow your mind!

  5. I'm completely with you on all of this!!! I could not BELIEVE SJM would kill off the Thirteen but it did wonders for Manon's character development, like you said. Still, though, they had stayed with her through so much and I could not hold back the tears. Also, yes that ending!!! I don't think it could have ended in a better way with the OG squad together and there are just so many flashbacks to that first scene in ToG when Chaol brings Aelin to Dorian for the competition. They've all come so far and I love it! It means the same thing to me: I started reading this series in high school five years ago and now I'm finishing it as a different person. It's like HP was for the slightly older generation, you know? If I didn't love the ending so much, I would fully advocate for a finishing novella with weddings and children and a scene with Dorian going back to the castle and visiting Mort and the tomb and Mort making snide remarks :)
