AVENGERS: ENDGAME REVIEW

“Part of the journey is the end.” So says Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame, the epic culmination of every Marvel Cinematic Universe entry that’s come before. After a seemingly endless journey, this movie does the impossible: brings closure. This is the end of one story, yet the beginning of so many others. If you read last months monthly consumptions where I talked about Avengers: Infinity War you would recall that it left me wanting more. Endgame is here to deliver where Infinity War failed. This movie pulled at my heart, yet had me laughing to the point where my stomach hurt.

The movie's three-hour-runtime flies by as the surviving characters try to find a way to undo the devastation created by Thanos. Both Robert Downy Jr. and Chris Evans give a performance of a lifetime in these films that is filled with a complete understanding of these characters after 10 years of embodying them. Chris Hemsworth has become one of the most vital elements in this franchise being able to perfectly balance comedy with soul-searching pathos. Marvel movies have become known for the wisecracks between characters, especially since Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor: Ragnarok and this movie was no different. You would think that because this is the end of the world as we know it, the sense of humor in these characters would be lost, but in fact it is heightened.

While this movie is exhausting that is to be expected. We have come to the end of a saga, 10 years and 22 films later, we have made it! This movie had me cheering, crying, laughing and left me content as can be. 5 out of 5 stars!

THE REST OF THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM
AVENGERS: ENDGAME
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

This part of the post is just going to be me talking about the parts of the movie that made me laugh, scream and cry.
So basically the entire movie. First things first, Fat Thor is such a mood. The fact that they were playing fortnite and getting bullied by other players kills me! Not only physically but additionally becoming depressed and locking himself away. I think almost anyone can relate to that on some level. I am glad they didn't have him just snap out of it, but stay like that till the end was just perfect. And when he reunites with his mother in Asgard and gets the advice and closure that he needs. UGHHH SO EMOTIONAL! And then he reaches for the hammer and he finds out he is still worthy. His face and his smile brought me so much hope. It stood for so much more. It is such a turning point for his character arc. We have seen Thor transform from the first movie he appears in to this one. I recently watched Thor: The Dark World and it was a little disappointing to see the old Thor. I love current Thor and cannot wait to see him join the Guardians!
Captain America this entire movie had me in my feelings. THE MOMENT WHEN CAP PICKS UP THOR'S HAMMER I LET OUT THE LOUDEST SCREAM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE THEATER. Also when we are in that elevator and we get that winter solider moment, but then he goes Hail Hydra I was SCREAMINGGGGG! Another Cap moment that broke my heart was when Thanos was just breaking his shield. Piece by piece just picking it apart. And then when it seems like it is the end, THE PORTALS FUCKING OPEN AND EVERYONE IS LIKE BITCH WE GON FUCK THIS SHIT UP!
And then of course we gotta talk about my boy spdermans. When spidey comes back and he is filling Tony in on everything that happened in the 30 minutes they were apart and Tony is just like *hug* MY LITTLE HEART! When Spider-Man and Pepper and saying by to Tony I could not take it. I am tearing up right now just typing this. And at the funeral where everyone is just looking so sad and the proof that Tony Stark has a heart is just floating there. nope. nope. my eyes. filled with water. But ANYWAYS. The moment where Spider-Man is struggling and literally every woman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe just comes to the rescue. And then Captain Marvel carries the gauntlet with the help of all these women is just such a bad ass moment. I was so happy that we got this scene because the women of the Marvel Universe just need to be appreciated more.
Also honorable mentions. Anytime Rocket talked, I was laughing my ass off. When Tony makes the Build-A-Bear comment was perfect. And then Bruce/Hulk trying to figure out time travel and testing it out on Antman (rip scott's taco) was just filled with so many small jokes and made me smile.

Those were some of my favorite parts from this movie! What were yours? Let me know in the comments down below!

Thanks Hons,
Lee Chand

  2. I was sad to see Black Widow die, but she saved Hawkeye and his family whereas her only family were the Avengers and Nick Fury. Whatever it takes and by her action she wiped the rivers of red off her ledger (Conversation with Loki in The Avengers) so achieves the peace she craved

    1. I agree completely. If Hawkeye died instead it would have been much more tragic.

  3. I thought that it was pretty good even though solving time travel was a stretch. It definitely delivered and Captain America became a god with Thor's powers after he lifted Thor's hammer!

  5. Thanos didn’t die before he snapped the snap. They explained that going back in time doesn’t change their future, it splits the timeline. Their future stays the same so he has already performed the snap. He didn’t do it in the timeline he came from though.
