“In that moment, Blue was a little in love with all of them. Their magic. Their quest. Their awfulness and strangeness. Her raven boys.”
The hunt for the Welsh King continues! This novel is the sequel to The Raven Boys, which I read a few months ago (

If you read the first book and are iffy about moving onto the second, I would say that I did like the first book better, but this book is still captivating and and kept me wanting to read more. I did enjoy the story line more in the first book, because here it was more about Ronan and his past and why he is the way he is. I was hoping to see more of Blue and Gansey in this one and don't get me wrong, there were some small moments between the two of them that made my heart flutter, but I was hoping to see them go further.
Getting to know about Ronan's past really intrigued me. To see this person who you think is so tough and ruthless and then all of a sudden his world starts to slowly crumble around him. The story about his father and mother just blew me away and I did not expect it what so ever. I was so excited when we met more of the Lynch clan and learned so much about them and the reason why Ronan has grown into the man he is today. It warmed my heart to see the care Ronan had for his little brother Max. The introduction of Kavinsky brought the book home for me. The tension between Ronan and Kavinsky reminded me of those old school movies where every school had that one bad boy who tries to corrupt one person in the friend group. Kavinsky saw the bad in Ronan and tried to pull it out even further.

It took me a little longer to get into this book. Maggie Stiefvater's writing style is extremely unique and descriptive and I found myself getting lost in the words and having to start over again. I additionally felt that the end of the book was a little rushed and I knew all my questions would not be answered since I knew the there is a third book on the way, but it still left me confused. I had to reread the ending a few times before I got what happened and yet I still don't feel closure.
Overall I gave it 4.5 stars! I can not wait for the third book in the cycle to come out,
