Confessions of a Murder Suspect by James Patterson Review

Confessions of a Murder Suspect by James Patterson
Release Date: September 24th 2012
Source: Purchased
Format: Paperback
Pages: 315
Buy it: Amazon|B&N|Book Depository
On the night Malcolm and Maud Angel are murdered, their daughter Tandy knows just three things: 1) She was one of the last people to see her parents alive. 2) The suspect list only includes Tandy and her three siblings. 3) She can't trust anyone--maybe not even herself.

As Tandy sets out to clear the family name, she begins to recall flashes of experiences long buried in her vulnerable psyche. These memories shed light on her family's dark secrets, and digging deeper into her powerful parents' affairs proves to be a disturbing and dangerous game. Who knows what any of the Angels are truly capable of?

This book was completely underwhelming for me. My mother loves James Patterson and he is such a well known author that I expected much more from him. The writing is very simplistic to me. nothing creative or figurative about it. Just plain and boring. The storyline had the potential to be so interesting, but in the end I was just disappointed. Our main character, Tandy was just emotional and dry. She was not relatable whatsoever.
I additionally disliked how Tandy address the reader. It is like those cheesy college essays that say, "Dear College Admissions Office..." No honey! I am sorry but I hate that. This book was so predictable and honestly not worth my time. I did finish it even though I knew the ending was going to be a let down and I do not understand how there are four books in this series. I thought this book was going to have a Pretty Little Liars type vibe but I was just let down. 3 out of 5 stars.

Shadowhunters Midseason Review

I was so excited for this show...and as it progresses I am more and more disappointed each week. Why can Hollywood never understand this world that Cassandra Clare created. I was coming into this TV show hoping that it would be better than the movie but I actually at this point like the movie better than the TV show. There are a few things that the TV show has over the movie, but movie outweighs it by far.
The first thing I love about the show is that there is more Alec and Izzy. You see them more and there is more screen time for them. In the movie Alec and Izzy were in the background and did not seem as if they were of any importance. But here they have some really funny lines and they save the show for me. Alec's lines make me laugh out loud and are just perfect for the situation. Magnus is also so much better in the show. Movie Magnus was just a mess with his pants off, but show Magnus just fits the part so much better.
The things that are lacking in the show for me is the dialogue between Jace and Clary. Their lines are so cheesy and awkward. I cringe at some of their lines and the moments they share. They are not my Jace and Clary. Clary's relationship with Simon is also very weird. Why are they always hugging? Can someone explain? It feels like they do not know what to say so they just hug which shouldn't be the case since they are best friends. Or they always say, " I don't know what I would do without you" and "you're the only person I have left." Like come on none of these seems real.
I am just disappointed at this point, but I will keep watching because I will support anything to do with The Mortal Instruments and the Shadowhunter world. There are a few things that keep me coming back every week but I want this show to get better!

Let me know what you think of Shadowhunters in the comments below!
