Dark secrets and forbidden love threaten the very survival of the Shadowhunters in Cassandra Clare’s Queen of Air and Darkness, the final novel in the #1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling The Dark Artifices trilogy.
What if damnation is the price of true love?
Innocent blood has been spilled on the steps of the Council Hall, the sacred stronghold of the Shadowhunters. In the wake of the tragic death of Livia Blackthorn, the Clave teeters on the brink of civil war. One fragment of the Blackthorn family flees to Los Angeles, seeking to discover the source of the blight that is destroying the race of warlocks.
Meanwhile, Julian and Emma take desperate measures to put their forbidden love aside and undertake a perilous mission to Faerie to retrieve the Black Volume of the Dead. What they find in the Courts is a secret that may tear the Shadow World asunder and open a dark path into a future they could never have imagined. Caught in a race against time, Emma and Julian must save the world of Shadowhunters before the deadly power of the parabatai curse destroys them and everyone they love.
If you have not read Lady Midnight (review here) or Lord of Shadows (review here) you need to get on that ASAP! Cassandra Clare's books trap me like no author ever could and this series is no different. So start reading her books in order of publication so you're not spoiled and go have a grand ole time and thank me later.
This book was INSANE! So much happened. There were so many emotions. I took so many notes because things just kept happening and happening. This definitely felt like the City of Glass of the series. Like you know there is more to come and shit about to go down! I loved every bit of this book, but it did not tie up all the loose ends my heart wanted. That is all I really have to say about this book. I give it 5 out of 5 stars for making my cold dark heart feel something.
If you have not read Queen of Air and Darkness please do not read any further! There are spoilers below!

CAN WE TALK ABOUT ASH! I knew there was a Sebastian demon baby out there and I knew he would be a fucking problem. And how attached he is to Jace is insane. The whole Thule section of this book had me shaking and crying the entire time. The story of Thule Magnus and Alec and then the story of Clary. It was amazing to see Livvy again and her being this bad ass that is leading this rebel alliance. She truly inspired Julian when he went back to his world to contact all these institutes and Downworlders to go against the Cohort. The best thing that came from Thule was that we found out that the water from Lake Lyn can help heal the warlocks and honestly thank fucking god. CAUSE IF WE LOST MAGNUS THAT WOULD BE THE END FOR ME. Ash, Ty, Kit and Dru are going to play a huge role in Cassandra Clare's next series The Wicked Powers which we probably won't see for a very long time and I'm lowkey upset because I just want to know what happens to my favorite people.
also DIANA CUTTING OFF HORACE'S ARM AND THEN JUMPING OUT THE WINDOW WAS THE MOST BAD ASS THING SHE COULD HAVE EVER DONE. CAUSE MAIN THEME THROUGHOUT THIS BOOK...FUCK ZARA. FUCK HORACE. that is all. we will now returned to our scheduled programming.
My notes for the battle scene were just all my confused thoughts. okay Emma stealing Cortana back like it was Thor's fucking hammer was so bad ass. I was waiting the whole book for her to get that sword back. But then when fucking Zara stabbed Emma in the back I was like no way Emma is gonna die like that. And then I was like EMMA IS GONNA FUCKING DIE LIKE THAT. But her and Julian were like SIKE! Now we are angel giants and we are gonna murder everyone. AND WHEN EMMA TOSSED JACE TO THE SIDE I WAS LIKE NO WAY IS SHE KILLING MY BABY. I didn't realize how much I missed Jace for all these years. It makes me want to reread The Mortal Instruments all over again. Anyways when Tavvy went "Julian carry me! I wanna go home!" I nearly melted. But I also do not get how there were not more consequences for Emma and Julian for becoming and destroying and killing shadowhunters. I feel like there is more to it and maybe we will see that in the next series.

Tessa being pregnant and Kit going to live with her and Jem made me so happy.
The one line that made me cry harder than anything: "And when one day people look back on me and what my life meant, I don't want them to say 'Alec Lightwood fought in the dark war' or even 'Alec Lightwood was Consul once.' I want them to think, 'Alec Lightwood loved one man so much he changed the world for him.'" I STARTED CRYING LIKE A BABY! Jemma and Clace could never. They don't even have the range. What a perfect way to end this series!
