June 2019 | Monthly Consumptions

Happy Summer Everyone!!!
June was a great reading month for me. I was able to read some of the ARCs I received at BookExpo as well as read some book that were already released that I have been wanting to read for a while!

The first show I watched this month was HBO's Big Little LiesBased on the same-titled best-seller by Liane Moriarty, Big Little Lies weaves a darkly comedic tale of murder and mischief in the tranquil beachfront town of Monterey, Calif. Amidst doting moms, successful husbands, beautiful children, and stunning homes exists a community fueled by rumors and divided into haves and have-nots, exposing fractured relationships between husbands and wives, parents and children, and friends and neighbors. Told through the eyes of three mothers – Madeline, Celeste and Jane – the series' narrative explores society's myths regarding perfection and its romanticization of marriage, sex, parenting and friendship. Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley star as the three prominent Mothers of Monterey. I strongly dislike each one of these mothers, but I cant help but watch the drama unfold. They have pulled me in with their fire-side wine chats and pristine houses. I am so invested, I just want to know what is going to happen next! Tantalizing and thrilling till the last drop! 5 out of 5 stars.

The first book I read this month was With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo and you can check out my full review here!

The next show I watched this month was season 5 of Black Mirror. I have to say I was not a fan of this season. Each episode felt like it dragged on for way too long and I did not get that creeped out feeling like I often do get with episodes of this show. I would say you could skip over these episodes but if you want to understand the memes then watch Striking Vipers at least. That Miley Cyrus episode seemed to go on for 4 hours and was not that interesting overall. Season 5 of Black Mirror gets 2.5 out of 5 stars from me.

The next book I read this month was Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston and you can check my full review here.

Then I read Lock Every Door by Riley Sager and you can check my full review here!

Next, I watched the prequel to Mamma Mia, Mamma Mia! Here We Go AgainIn 1979 young Donna, Tanya and Rosie graduate from Oxford University -- leaving Donna free to embark on a series of adventures throughout Europe. On her journeys, she makes the acquaintances of Harry, Bill and Sam -- the latter whom she falls in love with, but he's also the man who breaks her heart. In the present day, Donna's pregnant daughter, Sophie, dreams of renovating a taverna while reuniting with her mother's old friends and boyfriends on the Greek island of Kalokairi. I love a movie that provides some background information. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was my favorite Harry Potter book because we got a glimpse into the lives of James and Lily Potter before they were killed. This movie perfectly ties the past and the present together with seamless transitions. I would give this movie 4 out of 5 stars. I might be in the minority here but I still like the original better.

The next book I read this month was the Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren. Click here to see my full review.

After that I watched Adam Devine's Netflix special. Frenetic comic Adam Devine talks teen awkwardness, celebrity encounters, his "Pitch Perfect" audition and more in a special Best Time of Our Lives from his hometown of Omaha. I adore this man so much! His comedy is so vast that it can connect with someone of any age. I found myself laughing out loud multiple times. 5 out of 5 stars! Would highly recommend.

The next book I read this month was Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and you can check out my full review here.

And then y'all know I had to keep watching my Greys Anatomy! This month I watched seasons 9-12 and somehow every episode still makes me cry! 5 out of 5 stars as always!

The last book I read this month was Past Perfect Life by Elizabeth Eulberg and you can check out my full review here!

Thats it for my June Monthly Consumptions! Let me know what you consumed this month in the comments down below!
